Enemy II
Enemy II is a series of
digitally created images using the photographs of Jean-Martin Charcot
(1825-1893) of hysterical persons as source. These photographs have inspired
as well other artists, among them Louise Bourgeois. The bodies are twisted,
arched, stretched. They are strangely deformed, merging, their original
biological form seems to have vanished including intestines. In Gregory
Chatonsky's reediting the original photographs did influence according to
their luminosity the shape of the surface thus adding another sphere of
abnormality to the bodies and visualizing their encryption.

Enemy II est un ensemble de simulations numériques reproduisant les postures
des hystériques photographiées par Jean-Martin Charcot
(1825-1893) qui avaient également inspirée
Louise Bourgeois. Les corps sont tordus, arc-boutés, tendus. Ils sont
étrangement déformés, comme en fusion, formes géologiques semblant
s'échapper des organes, circonvolutions, entrailles ouvertes. Ce sont les
images originales de Charcot qui selon leurs luminosités creusent les
simulations et déforment les volumes. Ces images redoublent l'anomalie des
corps hystériques et en sont la clé cryptographique.
